2024 Turkey Order Info

It’s fall y’all, and we’ll be taking your holiday turkey orders in no time. Here’s how it works:

Turkey orders start November 1st. You can order your turkey in person at the Meat Department counter or by calling the Meat Department at 360.336.5087 x 128.

No Deposit Required. In case you haven’t heard, we no longer require a $5 deposit.

Turkeys available for pick-up Sunday, November 24 – Wednesday, Nov 27. You can pick your turkey up at the Meat Department or go through the checkout registers, and we’ll fetch it for you!

As always, our turkeys come from Diestel Family Farms in Sonora, CA – All Diestel turkeys are 100% vegetarian-fed, raised without antibiotics or growth hormones and contain no preservatives, gluten or artificial ingredients. This year, we’re offering Diestel Original, Diestel Organic, and Diestel Heirloom turkeys.

Q: Where are the turkeys from and when can I order one?

A: Diestel Family Turkey Ranch in California. We start taking turkey orders on November 1st. Place your order at the Meat Department or call us at 360-336-9777 x128.

Q: Why buy Diestel turkeys?

A: Diestel turkeys come from sustainable family farms in Sonora, CA – delivered directly to us the week of Thanksgiving. All Diestel turkeys are 100% vegetarian fed, raised without antibiotics or growth hormones. They contain no preservatives, gluten or artificial ingredients. They’re pure, tender, juicy turkeys with
old-fashioned flavor.

Q: What kind of turkeys are available to order?

A: We have three options to choose from:

  • The Original Diestel Turkey ($4.49/lb) – thoughtfully raised and grown slowly and naturally, with plenty of fresh air and room to roam.

  • The Organic Diestel Turkey ($5.49/lb) – raised on Certified Organic feed, which by definition is Non-GMO.

  • Diestel Organic American Heirloom Turkey ($6.49/lb) – rare and unique breeds with rich flavor raised on a low-fat vegetarian diet that is verified and free of GMOs.

Q: How much do they cost?

A: Price per pound is listed above. We no longer require a deposit.

Q: What sizes of turkeys are available?

A: There are several size ranges (in pounds) of each variety to choose from:

  • Original Diestel Turkey: 10-12, 12-14, 16-18, 20-22

  • Organic Diestel Turkey: 6-10, 10-12, 12-14, 14-16, 16-18

  • Diestel Organic American Heirloom Turkey: 12-14

Q: Can I order an exact size of turkey?

A: Because a turkey’s natural growth can’t be predicted exactly and we receive a limited quantity of each size range, we are only able to provide you with a bird sized within the range you order.

Q: What does Organic mean?

A: The Organic Diestel Turkey and Diestel Organic American Heirloom Turkey are both Certified Organic and Non-GMO Project Certified. They’re raised on 100% vegetarian Certified Organic feed free of artificial ingredients, antibiotics, growth stimulants, or hormones.

Q: Are the turkeys fresh?

A: Yes, the turkeys are fresh! They’re ice-chilled in transport and refrigerated in-store. You may have to remove the turkey before Thanksgiving to thaw entirely.

Q: When do I pick up my turkey?

A: Turkeys are available for pick-up from Sunday, Nov 24 – Wednesday, Nov 27. We are closed Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov 28.

A: You can pick your turkey up at the Meat Department during your shopping trip or go through the checkout registers, and we’ll fetch it for you!

As a general rule of thumb, you’ll need about 1.5 lbs of turkey per person.

  • 1 turkey eater — 1.5 lbs.

  • 2 turkey eaters — 3 lbs.

  • 3 turkey eaters — 4.5 lbs.

  • 4 turkey eaters — 6 lbs.

  • 5 turkey eaters — 7.5 lbs.

  • 6 turkey eaters —9 lbs.

  • 7 turkey eaters — 10.5 lbs.

  • 8 turkey eaters — 12 lbs.

  • 9 turkey eaters — 13.5 lbs.

  • 10 turkey eaters — 15 lbs.
