Anacortes Middle School Garden to Kitchen

The mission of the Anacortes Middle School Garden to Kitchen program is to help students develop life-long habits and knowledge around sustainably growing and cooking nutrient rich food.

Anacortes Middle School offers two daily “Garden to Kitchen” classes where students apply their science skills in a large garden and six fully outfitted kitchens. Students have physically constructed the garden beds, worm bins, compost bins, fences, benches, a tool shed, a trellis, a patio and more.

Children of the Valley

Children of the Valley (COV) is an afterschool program that serves students in the Mount Vernon School district. Their mission is to provide a positive environment every day after school for children most in need from the community.

COV is a referral-based program, referred by the student’s school counselor and/or teachers based on academic and personal needs.

COV’s purpose is to break the cycle of poverty within each family they serve by empowering students to DREAM BIG and to pursue their educational goals by graduating high school and obtaining post-secondary education or degree.

Skagit Animals in Need (SAIN)

Skagit Animals in Need (SAIN) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to rehabilitating and rehoming large animals and livestock seized in neglect and cruelty cases, or release to animal control or law enforcement.

Once in SAIN custody, the animal is placed with a safe foster home, a medical and behavioral assessment is performed, and rehabilitation begins. Once the animal is at a healthy weight and up to date on medical care, it is made available for adoption to loving homes.

The mission of SAIN is to prevent and respond to animal cruelty in support of law enforcement.

Skagit Land Trust

The mission of Skagit Land Trust is to conserve wildlife habitat, agricultural and forest lands, scenic open space, wetlands, and shorelines for the benefit of our community and as a legacy for future generations.

As a nationally accredited land trust, Skagit Land Trust demonstrates sound finances, ethical conduct, responsible governance and lasting stewardship. Since their founding in 1992, Skagit Land Trust has protected over 8,627 acres in Skagit County and has worked side by side with community members to steward the land.
