Step 1: Assemble Your Charcuterie Foods

Before we get to how to put together a beautiful (and impressive) charcuterie arrangement, let's go over some of the foods you should keep in mind as you're shopping for supplies.

Pancakes

Of course, we've got to start with the star of the show: pancakes! If you have your own special home recipe, this is the perfect time for it to shine! Otherwise, there are a few pancake recipe that we love, including:

Or, if you'd rather skip the pancake recipes all together, Kodiak Cakes are an excellent brand that we offer here at the Co-op.

Bacon, Sausage, or Other Protein

Regardless of whether you're a meat-eater, a vegan, or something in-between, every good brunch features some sort of protein option to help sustain you through the rest of the afternoon. Our meat department features a variety of different breakfast food options, all made in-house! Choose from a variety of different bacon options, maple breakfast sausage, and blueberry breakfast sausage. If you're vegan (or have brunch guests who are), consider checking out our plant-based meat options from Field Roast.

Fresh Fruit

Brunch spreads always feature an assortment of different fresh fruits. Stroll through our produce section and you're bound to find all sorts of different in-season options for your brunch. That said, if your pancakes are needing some berries and they're not in season, consider checking out our frozen fruit section for local options you can defrost.

Syrup, Sauces, & Spreads

What's a pancake without some sort of sauce or syrup on it? Give your guests lots of options with different local jams, sauces, syrups, and spreads. At the Co-op we have a variety of spreads and jams from local Skagit Valley farms and vendors. As far as traditional maple syrup goes, make sure to try out one of our favorites, Maple Valley Cooperative Syrup.

Step 2: Gather Your Charcuterie Boards, Bowls, and Cutlery

Next, gather up all the boards, bowls, and cutlery you'll need to contain your pancakes and sides. Consider using large boards for the pancakes and protein options, and smaller bowls for the spreads and sauces.

Step 3: Arrange Your Food

Now here comes the part where you have to get creative. And remember, there are no rules about how you organize your charcuterie boards. Some people fill every single space on the board, while others like to leave a little wiggle room between the pancakes and the sausage or fruit. Some charcuterie boards will have all like items next to each other, while others are spread out through the board. The options are basically endless!
