Cheers to 50 Years: Raise a Glass to our Golden Jubilee Beer Series
Golden Jubilee – a fancy way to say we’re celebrating our 50th! And what better way to celebrate 50 years of cooperation than bringing together four local breweries to create a series of brews just for the Co-op? (We can’t think of one either.)
The series is a collaboration between District, Farmstrong, North Sound, and Temperate Habits – a little co-hoperation, if you will – and we’re delighted to kick the series off with the release of our CoHop Anniversary Ale, and IPA.
Brewed just a hop-skip from our beloved Co-op, the CoHop is a nod to the magic of working together to offer our community something delicious, like the Co-op does, and has done since 1973. …because we all get by with a little hop from our friends.
The CoHop Anniversary Ale is on tap at all four breweries, and available in cans right here at the Co-op. Look for the lovely labels (designed by our very own graphic designer, Megan Young) and get sipping on some celebratory suds! We’ll continue the Golden Jubilee Series with another beer release this summer and a cider in the fall. Cheers!

Grown Here, Malted Here, Brewed Here. Farmstrong works closely with Skagit Valley Malting to produce truly local beers.
They also serve their own hard cider Ragged & Right Cider, and their food truck is set to re-open in April, just in time for warm spring nights in the beer garden. Put your drinking cap on, and join them for trivia every Wednesday night. All ages and dogs welcome.
North Sound Brewing Company

Also a stone’s throw from the Skagit River, North Sound brews old-world inspired, unfiltered small batch ales, including their Hopsolicious IPA, Goosetown Brown, and Pearl’s Pale Ale, their seasonal Tulip Festival pale ale.
They tweak the hop profile every year to keep it spring fresh, like the open-air experience when the taproom’s garage doors finally open! You can bring your own food, and your well-behaved dogs. 21+ only.
Temperate Habits
500 South 1st St.
temperatehabitsbrewing.com
Just two blocks from the Co-op! Former pharmacists turned brewologists, Temperate Habits is woman-owned by Brooke and Katie. Go say hi! TH is an all ages small batch brewpub with craft beers and a full menu with burgers, sandies, and a drool-worthy selection of loaded fries – Crab & Lobster Tots, anyone? All are listed with suggested drink pairings, so you’re getting the fullest flavor experience. Happy Hour is 3-5pm.
Well Spent!
Our local brewers care about reducing food waste, too. Spent grain is a byproduct of the brewing process, and brewers have a few options when it comes to keeping it out of the landfill.
Both District and Farmstrong Brewing partner with local farmers to pick up their spent grain; District’s heads to Ferndale where it’s fed to cattle, while Farmstrong stays local and is fed to hogs. Oink!
