The mission of Concrete Farm to School is to build resilient students and families by providing access to healthy local foods, nutrition and culinary education, and hands-on gardening activities.
Concrete Farm to School’s goal is to invite Concrete students and families into a local food system. Currently, Concrete Farm to School grows and distributes food to a local farmers market and school cafeteria, primarily through a summer vocational program for high school students.
In order to increase the amount of produce that can be distributed, Concrete Farm to School needs to expand its ability to safely wash and pack fruits and vegetables. Funds will be used to purchase supplies for a functioning wash and pack station.
This will allow Concrete Farm to School to move towards fulfilling its food safety plan and safely selling student-grown produce back to its own cafeteria and community.
