About Viva Farms
Founded in 2009, Viva Farms is a non-profit Skagit Valley organic farm and beginning farmer support organization with a mission to preserve sustainable farming and create a resilient and just local food system. Viva empowers beginning and historically-underserved farmers by providing bilingual (Spanish-English) training in organic farming, along with access to essential start-up resources, including equipment infrastructure, capital, and markets.
In 2023, the Co-op kicked off our 50th anniversary by donating $100,000 to Viva Farms through the Growing Good Fund. This year, we doubled down on good by donating another $100,000 to Viva Farms, to continue to support local agriculture and the future of farming in the Skagit Valley.
Currently, Viva is in the process of rebuilding their barn, which will allow farmers access to a wash/pack space, extensive cold and dry storage, and the right infrastructure for accessible loading from the field for larger-scale distribution. This will provide farmers with an amazing opportunity to continue to learn and grow their business through infrastructure that they would not have access to otherwise.
