The Best Holiday Beer & Wine for a Very Merry Everything!

You've got your holiday food menu down, but what about the drinks? If you need pairing ideas or want something new to sip on, we've put together a list of the best beer, cider, and wine, to make your spirits bright!

Winter Ales & Ciders for Every Occasion

When it comes to choosing a beer for a holiday gathering, winter-style ales and cider are a great place to start. These beers are generally dark with a medium to high ABV, and hard ciders are the perfect complement to other fall flavors.

Yonder Palisades Blackberry Sage Cider

Woman-owned and based in Wenatchee, Yonder has been crafting flavorful, not-too-sweet hard ciders since 2020.

A little tangy, a little tart, and full of that classic Washington State apple flavor, Palisades is a cider that's made up of fuji, Honeycrisp, Roxbury Russet, Dabinett, and a few other various red-fleshed apples.

The blackberries are Washington-grown, too!

Boundary Bay Cabin Fever

When the weather is frightful, stay in and embrace the cozy with a seasonal staple.

With its rich, malty flavor, this winter ale from Bellingham's Boundary Bay is made with water from the Lake Whatcom Watershed and features notes of light toffee, chocolate, and malt.

It's full-bodied, super smooth, and bound to warm you up, especially if you're enjoying it by the fire.

Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome Ale

This limited edition winter ale features a full-body flavor that’s bound to be a crowd-pleaser.

With an ABV of 6% and, you guessed it, more rich, malty flavor, Samuel Smith prefers this beer at 51°F, so you might want to skip the fridge altogether.

Kulshan Brewing Kitten Mittens

Aside from having an absolutely adorable name, Kulshan's Kitten Mittens is a medium-bodied, winter ale that'll complement any holiday meal.

With subtle flavors of chocolate, dates, and figs, this 8% ABV beer features Apollo, Willamette, and Fuggle hops.

Thanksgiving Wines

Whether you're having a traditional sit-down dinner or a football viewing extravaganza, our Thanksgiving wine recommendations are worth passing around.

Our Beer & Wine expert hand-selected all of the wines listed below because they pair well with turkey, but if there's no bird on the table, they're still great for sipping!

Foris Pinot Noir (Oregon)

A classic pairing option for turkey, this 2020 Pinot Noir is made with 100% estate grapes from Foris’ Cedar Ranch and Maple Ranch vineyards in Oregon.

Despite cold, wet conditions followed by summer fires, this wine made it to our shelves! Less than 8,000 were bottled, making it an extra special vintage with fragrant fruit notes of blackberry, boysenberry, and cherry, along with a lot of spice.

La Petite Perriere Pinot Noir (France)

Featuring aromas of blackberry and blueberry with a cherry-driven finish, this French Pinot Noir’s dazzling ruby color adds a splash of elegance to your Thanksgiving table.

Made up of 100% pinot noir grapes, this wine has received a score of 88 points in Wine Spectator.

Pasek Cellars Cranberry Wine (Skagit Valley)

Why eat your cranberries when you can drink them? But really, this cranberry wine from local winery Pasek Cellars is the perfect balance of sweet and tart that pairs well with poultry and side salads.

The bright, natural ruby color of this wine is stunning, for an extra festive pour.

Lingot Martin Gamay Pet Nat (France)

Although the wines we’ve listed so far are red wine, that’s not to say that rosé isn’t fit for a holiday gathering!

This sparking rosé is dry with a light, fine bubble and flavors of red fruits and cotton candy. The dry finish provides just a hint of spice that’s warming and perfect on a cold winter night.

This bottle does a good job of balancing sugar with acidity to result in a refreshing drink that’s perfect for toasting.

More Thanksgiving Wines to Consider

La Lomita Sauvignon Blanc (Mexico)

Either way, we’ve partnered with local importers Patrick Neri and Lisa Strandberg to bring you exceptionally refreshing wines, that are technically from the West Coast! Hailing from Baja’s Valle de Guadalupe wine region, this Sauvignon Blanc has bright citrus notes that complement a variety of savory meats. Salud y Feliz Navidad!

Elqui Red Blend (Chile)

Pairs well with beef

This red blend from Chile is made up of 50% Carmenere, 26% Malbec, and 14% Syrah grape varietals, resulting in a deep and dark glass of wine.

With flavors of black currant and earth, spicy minerals, this is a rich and mouth-filling wine with a velvety finish.

Cedar + Salmon Pinot Noir (OR)

Pairs well with beef

With a lot of fruit up front and a dry finish, this pinot noir is grown in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.

Handpicked and hand-sorted before being Barrel-aged for 8 months, this wine is made from 100% Northern Willamette Valley fruit.

Cala Civetta Sangiovese (Italy)

Pairs well with beef and poultry

With fruity notes of cherry, currant, and strawberry, this Italian red pairs well with beef, poultry, and cured meat, making it a versatile option for Christmas dinner and other holiday appetizers.
