Bicycle Alliance is doing some great work in communities all around Washington –including here in Skagit. Their Safe Routes to School  and Go By Bike programs lose federal grant funding in September.

Recent Bicycle Alliance successes include:

1. With community partners we secured $2.25 million in additional funding for Safe Routes to School;

2. In more than 31 school districts and 4 colleges we trained teachers and parents who will teach bicycling safety to over 20,000 elementary,high school,and college students;

3. Leading a diverse coalition of 35 organizations,we introduced bipartisan legislation unanimously passed by the House that allows cities and towns to reduce speed limits. Next legislative session we’ll work with the Senate to ensure the bill becomes law.
