Paleo “May”You Be A Way Of Life…

Why do I eat what I eat?  Hunger? Anger? Fear? Happiness? Celebration? Does it matter? The truth is that the struggle to find a place where my eating habits are not all consuming;or as persistent as a bill collector would be amazing.  I have struggled with body image my whole life, the journey has taken my body and shifted from mine to the commercialization of what it is supposed to be and how it is supposed to work. I don’t want a diet I want a way of life, freedom from the cycle of bereavement to life and wellness.  I want comfort in my gut and a body that moves with grace. For me the month of May is the start of my journey.  I will be eating Paleo for the next 31 days.

What is Paleo you ask?  I will be eating like the cavemen did.

I will be eating:

  • Lean Meats
  • Eggs
  • Fish
  • Shellfish
  • Fruits
  • Veggies

High carbohydrate, starchy tubers – potatoes, sweet potatoes and yams – are

restricted on the Paleo Diet.

  • Nuts and Seed
  • Oil

I will be incorporating more movement in my body,I will not be perfect, but I will be honest. Still be cooking for my family, who do eat grains and dairy and sweets, will often be tempting I assume.  I will be logging my food and journaling how I feel.

First Morning Paleo Breakfast.

Ingredients:
2 ripe bananas
1 egg
1 to 2 tablespoons of sunflower seed butter (you could probably use other nut butters in place of this)

Directions:

Mash the bananas in a bowl. Add the egg and almond butter. Mix until combined. I also opted to add cinnamon and a little vanilla extract. Heat coconut oil (or whatever you have on hand) in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot,I used a 1/4 cup measuring cup to pour each pancake onto the frying pan.

Cook until you see bubbles and flip.
