LOCAL for Thanksgiving Is Easy,Actually…

Ready for a long list of local goodies? Here we go:

Golden Glen Creamery brought in their chocolate milk and eggnog! On sale in the deli drinks case for $2.49 PT and $3.99 QT,plus a $2 bottle deposit since these are sold in re-usable glass jars;bring on the holidays!

Our turkeys are coming from Diestel Farms in Northern California (as close as we could source ‘em –heritage and locally grown breeds are in short supply). Breadfarm in Edison is bringing in their delicious stuffing again, and Vincent Family Cranberries join us this year from Oregon, which is where our Canned Pumpkin comes from too…

From my brief trip through our produce department, you’re going to have to TRY to avoid local produce for thanksgiving, but there are a couple of traditional Thanksgiving staples that are never available from local growers,or have passed their season up here in the PNW.

Namely: green beans and yams/sweet potatoes.

Can you adapt your feast menu to feature dishes from closer to home?

Think about it. In the meantime, contemplate this long and lovely list of local harvest to get your creative Thanksgiving juices flowing…
