Complete Moroccan Bread Recipe from newsletter!

Hi there,

Tragically, our recipe in the current Natural Enquirer for Sarah Stone’s Moroccan bread Recipe was missing the last two steps. Argh! We hate it when that happens.

So…here is is in its entirety, for your viewing (and now baking) pleasure!

Moroccan Bread
Enjoy this surprisingly easy-to-make bread with most any saucy meal—soups and meat stews work especially well due to its crunchy crust. The subtle anise flavor is delightful.

OCTOBER

Paleolithic “Cave Man” Diet

With Suneil Polly RN ND,Lac Alive and Well Acupuncture

Tuesday,October 2 6:30 Room 309 Free

The Paleo Diet is one of the trendiest diets in recent years, adopted by superstars like Megan Fox and Uma Thurman as well as athletes who find it helps with endurance, performance and fat loss. It is based on natural proteins and fats, fruits and vegetables;no sugar, grains or dairy allowed. According to proponents, the human body works best (and looks best) when it is fed food that Stone Age humans ate, such as grass-fed meat and vegetables. Foods added later to the human diet, like grains, are a cause of the inflammation that leads to many chronic diseases,as well as weight gain.

As a Naturopath,Dr. Polley will look at the real benefits and sustainability of the Paleo Diet from a physician’s perspective, according to recent research. Join us Tuesday Oct 2nd to learn the core principles of the diet and sample some Paleo cooking! More information at:www.goaliveandwell.com.

For Immediate Release:4% Friday Applications for 2011 are ready

Skagit Valley Food Co-op welcomes 4% Friday Community Shopping Day Applications

Local community organizations geared toward youth, health, service, and sustainable food and farming practices, may apply now for Co-op shopping dollar donations.

Mount Vernon,WA –The Skagit Valley Food Co-op is pleased to announce that it’s open application time for their 2011 4% Friday Community Shopping Day program. Once a month,Co-op shoppers get to send some of their grocery money right back into the hands of selected community groups, who are working to enrich the quality of life and land in Skagit County. Applications are available now in-store,downloadable on the Co-op’s website:www.skagitfoodcoop.com,and due back to the Co-op by Friday September 17th,2011.

The Co-op’s Community Relations Committee will review applications of non-sectarian,non-partisan charitable community groups with like-minded missions, and then choose one organization for each month of 2011,to honor with 4% of the Co-op’s gross receipts. This makes for fantastic fourth Friday fun in-store – as shoppers learn more about local programs, and the groups get a boost for their operating budgets.

As Liz Stoddard from Skagit Adult Day Care (2009 recipient) puts it:“We found the experience very positive. It is awesome to have support from the community we serve. As a non-profit we are continually fund raising and writing for grants to keep our doors open. The Food Co-op opportunity seemed like a real great way to get information to the community about our services, and to raise some additional money.” Almost half-way through 2010,the Co-op has already donated over $10,000 to local organizations.

2010’s 4% Friday organizations include:

Skagit River Poetry Festival,Children of the Valley (Ninos deValle) Afterschool Program,Unity Garden,Rexville Grange,Friends of Skagit Libraries,Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group,NW Agricultural Research Foundation,Summit Assistance Dogs,Hearing, speech, and Deafness Center,Skagit YMCA – Oasis Teen Shelter,Skagit Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services, and Skagit Hospice Foundation
